Microchipping
Getting your pet microchipped
With the introduction of new cat and dog laws – all animals are now required to be micro chipped.
Microchipping can be done at any age. It is a quick and simple procedure that can be done in just a few minutes. A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice, and is implanted under your pets skin via a needle (similar to a vaccination.) Each microchip has a unique number which is linked to your contact details on a national register. Microchips are a permanent form of identification, unlike collars and tags which can be removed or fall off. A microchip will greatly increase your chances of having your pet returned safely should they ever manage to wander off or get lost.
This includes registration on the national database for the life of the pet. The local Council now require all pets to be microchipped prior to Council Registration
